Janet Jackson, Julia Fox kick off New York Fashion Week

Chic is back this week.
Years of New York Fashion Week were more glamorous than glamorous, even before the pandemic took a toll.
Fashion’s biggest week technically starts on Friday, but stars like Janet Jackson and Julia Fox are already getting a head start.
Jackson kicked off NYFW on Tuesday at Jazz at Lincoln Center, where Harlem’s Fashion Row and LVHM presented her with the “Icon of the Year” award.
Issa Rae, Sergio Hudson and Robin Givhan were honored early in the evening at Harlem Fashion Row’s 15th Anniversary Fashion Show and Style Awards at General Grant National Memorial in Harlem.
Unlike her fellow nominees, Jackson accepted the award fashionably at the afterparty.
Acclaimed stylist Uli Vice dressed Jackson in the off-white FW22, the brand’s final collection for the late Virgil Abloh. Miss Jackson was later spotted partying at Amanda Lepole and Suzanne Virtue’s weekly “On Top” party at Le Bain.
Meanwhile, downtown indie fashionista Julia Fox threw a party at David Ravin’s American Bar where her branding manager, Kendall Wertz, celebrated the fifth anniversary of his talent agency, Jeffries.
Werts client Evan Mock spun the tunes at the event, which also included George Wayne and Aoki Lee Simmons (daughter of Kimora Lee and Russell Simmons).
Werts said the party “felt like Studio 54”.
And the party is just getting started.
On Thursdays, Fotografiska hosts two parties. Gigi Hadid and Diane von Furstenberg host British Vogue editor Edward Enninful’s launch dinner and afterparty at the venue’s Veronica restaurant.
Photographer David LaChapelle invites friends such as Naomi Campbell, Heidi Klum, Doja Cat, Paris Hilton and Daphne Guinness to his ‘make Believe’ exhibition. Parties are said to be held throughout the museum and chapel bar.
And, of course, party mayor Eric Adams has to be in every fashion act. We hear he’s hosting a CFDA party with Anna Wintour at the Gracie Mansion on Thursday. I hear that Saint Laurent and he J. Crew have also acquired restaurants for events.
Fashion icon Grace Jones will also be at the party this week. The superstar celebrates with a new Boy Smells candle named after her at the Public Hotel.
The event will also feature musical performances by The Strokes and designer Heron Preston.
The Daily hosts its annual Fashion Media Awards. Busy Philipps is hosting this year’s event. The fashion magazine will also host a bash at the Hard Rock Hotel.
Harper’s Bazaar hosts a glamorous Icon event, moving from The Plaza to Bloomingdale’s this year. Featuring Jack Harlow.
