Finding the best clothes for your body type can be difficult.
Luckily, a fashion pro has revealed what to wear and what to avoid if you want to look taller.
Fashion guru Bethany is 5-foot-1 and revealed her tips and tricks to help her look taller.
In a YouTube video, Bethany revealed a styling hack she swears by.
“This is more an optical illusion than reality,” she reveals.
As she demonstrates in the video, pointy shoes can help stretch your legs, even flat shoes.
However, ankle strap heels should always be avoided if you want to appear taller.
Bethany explains that the ankle strap splits the leg and amputates it rather than lengthens it.
Next, Bethany recommends going for a monochrome look to add height.
She adds: “Wearing the same color from head to toe creates a visually very long line.
“Not only that, but I really don’t know where the legs start.”
You can also create the same illusion by wearing the same color shoes that the pants reveal Bethany.
Her third tip is to wear wide pants or straights, especially if you graze on the floor.
You can’t see the actual leg length with the naked eye.
Tucking in the top also helps create length, as Bethany explains that this hides your abs.
During the summer, Bethany suggests trying paperbag shorts to make your legs look longer.
They tend to be longer than other shorts and are usually high-waisted – helping create the appearance of longer legs.
Bethan also recommends trying flared skirts rather than skin-tight skirts.
“Choosing fabrics that leave no wiggle room will make your legs look thicker,” she explains.
Wearing a short jacket or cardigan will make your legs look longer and your abdomen shorter, making you look taller.
Finally, Bethany recommends wearing tops with lots of detail to accentuate your upper body.
“This is more special for pear-shaped people like me who might want to accentuate their shoulders with puff sleeves,” she adds.
