answer By Andrew Cohen, Founder and CEO of Brainscape Quora:
Interesting you should ask! have something to talk about.
Given our app’s popularity in medical schools and adult language learning, you might not think Brainscape is relevant to early childhood. But what happened this year showed me a whole new side. spaced repetition can rapidly improve the reading disability of younger child that too.
It all started when Brainscape’s board pressured us to diversify our markets to protect us in the face of such uncertainty.
As a small skunkworks project, I decided to create about 300 digital “Sight Words” flashcards. This is the most common word that young readers will immediately recognize without having to “pronounce” it. (flashcards simply have the words on the question side, audio Added to the answer side. )
I didn’t have many “mom blogger” audiences to share with, so I quietly published a free Sight Words product on Brainscape’s flashcard marketplace to see what happened.
Thousands of dedicated parents appear on the Sight Words leaderboard!
Parents liked Brainscape as a do-it-yourself activity, rather than a “babysitting” app that they just throw in a playpen. When Their children as they watch the detailed language acquisition chart grow. Adaptive repetition patterns also helped children attack “difficult words” in a much more targeted and efficient manner than other tools they learned.
Two years later, we hear more and more from parents about how Brainscape has helped their children improve their reading skills. wordsThe world’s leading sommelier preparation app reduce learning lossbut actually create Better reader At that makeup time!?
In fact, inspired by the popularity of our Sight Words product, Brainscape is now working on an even more comprehensive set of adaptive early childhood flashcards. all Core skills required for literacy, numeracy and common sense for ages 3-7. I am very much looking forward to its release soon.
