Friendswood theater mystery comedy about fashion and murder

Curtains on when fashion designer Coffee Chantal is killed in the mystery comedy Murder on the Runway, which runs August 26th at 7pm and August 28th at 2pm at Friendswood’s Purple Box Theater.
Seventeen actors, ages 9 to 18, have worked on the show all summer long in weekly production classes, said Kathy Holbrook, the theater’s founding artistic director.
Show director Amy Keeles said, “Richard Gremmel’s script includes a fashion show, but it’s mostly about the relationship with the designer and the detective working to solve the murder.
Tickets are $15.
Among the suspects are characters whose names parody actual fashion celebrities. They include Tyra Binks, Heidi Plume, Cindy Crawford and Tim Gumm.
The cast includes Cayden Jones, Sierra Small, Ali Johnson, Leia Hewitt, Kat Richards, Jacob Waters, Morgan Yoze, Megan Tanner, Sam Cooke, Stellan Donoho, Moxie Delgado, Walter Includes Hoff, Ethan Torana, Sophie Honeycutt, Kaylynn Howe and Melissa Strangis. and Charlie Haden.
Kiehl’s graduated from Alvin High School in 1996 and danced on the Jacketeers drill team. She studied at the College of Mainland before earning her Master’s degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology.

While growing up, Kiehl’s took classes and performed with the Purple Box.
It was a huge part of my growing up. That’s why I’m glad I came back this year,” she said.
Her son, Cameron Keeles, 12, doesn’t appear in “Murder on the Runway,” but he often performs with Purple Box.
“Cameron’s dream is to be a voice actor, but he also loves being on stage.” Purple Box Theater helped him grow as a performer and gave him the confidence to pursue acting. Through it all, he found a community of actors who supported and encouraged each other, which enriched his experience.”
“12 Angry Jurors” Set in September
Amy Kiehl’s next project will be stage management with adult actors for 12 Angry Juries, which hits theaters September 16-26.
She will also be choreographing the musical “Annie,” which will represent Purple Box at the Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta next year.
The lead roles in “Annie” are played by Aubrey Stevens, Andy Roberts, Kailyn Scott, Kaydin Jones, and Jackson Kerr.
