st. George —Fear or lack of knowledge about guns?

Rastin Staheli, a National Rifle Association certified instructor, said he completed a nine-year military career that included everything from artillery to military intelligence to combat techniques. After completing a combat tour in Iraq, he became a police officer with the Washington City Police Department.

“I’m very supportive of the 2nd Amendment and the rights you have, but it’s your responsibility to learn how to use it, or don’t put it in. Those situation,” Staheli said of gun ownership.

In order to spend more time with his family, Staheli transitioned from law enforcement to sales. There are many misconceptions when it comes to guns, especially when it comes to guns like the AR-15, Staheli said. He has created information-based courses that include PowerPoint, along with interactive activities that include training his pistol and lasers. These classes teach participants how to shoot firearms without actually shooting them.

After the initial introductory class, many find comfort in education and choose to move on to various courses to learn proper gun training and hands-on shooting, Staheli said.The course includes the types of guns a person should test and buy Multiple pistol calibers to determine your best fit. At the beginning of class, students are asked to look at the guns and choose which one they would like to own first.

“You don’t know which gun to buy until you learn how to shoot, how to use it, how to use your hands,” Staheli said. “You can’t go to a gun store and pick a gun. Modern Shooting Solutions offers professional home defense courses that include home visits with the development of safety plans for individuals and their families.
