Toledo, Ohio (WTVG) – The former Mott Branch Library on Dorr St. remains vacant. Located across from the new Mott Library, in a neighborhood where many Toledo City Council members agree some development is needed.

Toledo City Council District 4 Vanice Williams said: However, she voiced her dissatisfaction at the city council in May.

Compassion Health Toledo plans to build a second clinic here. The group’s existing clinic is located in the old South Branch Library near Broadway South. Compassion Health purchased the former Mott Branch Library from the city for $1.

After Williams and other council members signed the deal, they said they learned that Sandy Spann, the city’s commissioner of business services, joined Compassion Health’s board of directors in 2019 and eventually resigned. They said they changed their minds about the deal.

Today was about zoning changes.

“This had nothing to do with the zoning changes. Yes, I can say I wasn’t happy with the process, and I keep saying that. I keep saying, ‘Was it fair?’ increase. I don’t think so,” Williams added.

For now, plans call for a $500,000 renovation of the facility, which is scheduled to open in 2023.
