Fashion Week events celebrate local talent in style

After a hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Kedah Fashion Week (KFW) is back to highlight the diverse and innovative Southeast Asian fashion scene.
12 renowned brands, 16 renowned designers and 8 innovative local designers participated in the fashion showcase at Aman Central in Alor Setar.
Hosted by celebrity Natasha Hudson, Fashion Week kicked off at 3pm with a showcase of local fashion designer work, followed by the runways of mall tenants at 5pm.
Participating lifestyle brands include Icahfa, Qaira Hijab, Fana Couture, HLA, Parkson, Nuwav, Teva, Birkenstock, Studio, Steve Madden, Swarovski and Sembonia.
The three-day event featured a total of 31 runway shows featuring apparel, including sportswear.
Footwear and jewelry were also showcased.
Talents such as renowned Thai designer Hirankrit Pattaraboribonkul and Edwin Ao from the Philippines were lined up.
Among the up-and-coming names to present their collections are Eugene Chow (Ntrovert), Hooi Ho Mun (Homun Hooi), Jeremy Wong Zi Jin (Jer), Liew Hui Ying (Lhy), Liren (Liren) and See Jia Wen. (Cappusee), Sean Wong (SH WN) and Tan Wang Yee (Thewomanofyee).
Interesting exchanges of opinions took place among the colorful participants, and the event was a great success.
Among them were VIP guests, media partners, sponsors, celebrity models and fashion influencers.
Among the VIP guests were Miss Global International 2022 Sandra Lim, popular singer Iday and Kedahan celebrity Rosita Che Wang.
Spectators and shoppers also enjoyed exciting performances by guest artists.
Anugerah Juara Lagu 36 (AJL) singer Marsha Milan Londoh serenaded the fashion showcase gala night, Khai Bahar serenaded men’s night and AJL31 vocalist Dayang NurFaizah performed at the grand finale.
The event concluded with a special tribute to Eric Chun, the “Fashion Icon of KFW22” designer for 33 years in the industry.
Belleview Group managing director Datuk Sonny Ho said at an earlier press conference that the event will inspire the fashion industry in the region.
In addition to hosting Fashion Week, Aman Central partnered with Sony Pictures Malaysia to host the ‘Bullet Train to KFW22’ contest. Winners will not only enjoy KFW 2022, but also the Shinkansen movie.
