The New River Valley Heart Association Walk will be held on Saturday, October 1st at 10am.
The 1.5 mile walk (or 5K run) starts at Bisset Park at 49 Berkley Williams Drive in Radford. Check-in time is 9:30.
Chris Kiwus, interim senior vice president and chief business officer, and Bryan Garey, vice president of human resources, are co-chairs of the Walk at Virginia Tech.
“This is an important fundraiser to support heart research that benefits many in our community and beyond,” said Gary. The multi-million dollar study is sponsored by the American Heart Association, and many of us suffer from heart disease, whether it’s ourselves or a loved one, making it an easy cause to support.”
Individuals can join teams, or teams can be created from departments and friends. Each walker or team secures a sponsor prior to the event.
“The New River Valley Heart Walk is a great way to get moving while socializing with friends, family and colleagues,” says Kius. “By participating in the Heart Walk, you can improve your heart health and mental health, and help thousands of people at the same time.”
Activities include warm-ups, refreshments, team photos, and dog parades.
Information, team registration, and more are available on the Virginia Tech Heart Walk page. Questions can be sent to his Hokie Wellness at hokiewellness@vt.edu.
