Local gun safety groups are trying to make gun education more accessible. The group Armed and Educated partnered with Cleav’s Family Market and Black Market to hand out groceries at a gun safety lesson today. Shaauntrice Martin volunteered with this group and founded Black Market. Her goal, she says, is to use short five to 10-minute lessons as gateways to show people that handling a gun safely is a simple process. In exchange for patrons who attended demonstrations with air pistols, they received a case of groceries. Organizers believed they gave out groceries to about 60 people. Armed and Educated will host future events to encourage proper handling of guns.
