Laredo Fashion Week presents a series of works by international designers

With fashion week kicking off on Friday, a range of designers wanted to showcase what they’ve been working on during and after the pandemic, showcasing clothes that all originate from Mexico.
A total of 13 designers attended Laredo Fashion’s Week, from young siblings to men and women of all ages, even those who used to work for their parents.
The three designers that stood out the most were a designer who specializes in menswear, a young duo of brothers who recently started their own company, and a young woman who wants people to understand the beauty of women. Introduced in a limited edition design. .

Gabriel Honorato is the owner and fashion designer of HonoratoMX, based in Guadalajara, Jalisco.
Originally from Colima, Honorato moved to Guadalajara to study the marketing side of the industry and actually started developing his own style and creating his own collections.
“All my collections are very categorized by who I am. A lot of my looks are just one color, so I know that most of my jumpers and other models are monotypes. ,” said Honorato. One strong color and strong structure, in full red or full black or yellow, and he presents only one solid color.
“Personally, my motivation for designing is to go look at my materials and then start working with what I have. and I like to visualize what I can do with them, and I like to create things that I don’t think exist yet and make it happen in 3D for others to enjoy.”
When he started introducing his own clothes, Honorato was called by a university in Guadalajara to teach a fashion design class.
He said that although the pandemic affected his business, he continued to work with individual models and continued to make personalized clothing. It helped me make sure I was thriving.
“My main focus has always been menswear and I make sure that every piece I can create is suitable for every occasion or event and fits any type of model.” They are great for travel and they also personalize their men’s clothing, and I want them to stand out from the crowd.”

Galvez said her creative ideas are developed from what she thinks randomly on a daily basis.
“In a creative sense, what drives me is simply spontaneous ideas,” Maribel said. “If you like something or start thinking about it, go crazy until you make it happen.”
Her partner, Maribel’s brother, also started taking an interest in the brand after seeing that Maribel had a lot of potential in her designs.
David Galvez, another co-owner of Mayorca México, said: “This is how we decided to bring the brand to life about a year ago, and I hope it will be the first year of many.
“We hope to continue to bring these creative ideas to grow the brand.”
It’s common for brothers to fight, but Maribel said working together was always a “challenge”, but they complement each other so well, Maribel says .

Monica Armas, owner of her eponymous company based in Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico, said she began studying industrial design later in life when she suddenly became interested in the fashion industry.
Almas is someone who likes to dress well and feels that no woman can look ugly if she is well dressed. In fact, she said all her designs are made under this philosophy.
“When it comes to my style, I’m a super minimalist because women don’t have to put in much effort to show off their beauty,” Almas said. “That’s why we’re dedicated to showing you how to look good in the most minimalist style.”
Almas said all her collections are dedicated entirely to the use of Mexican products and textiles because she believes Mexican cotton and linen are some of the best in the world. also said he likes the way people outside of Mexico can see how beautiful clothes can be made using only 100% Mexican products.

Almas just wanted to show what Mexico is all about with her designs.
“I know there are a lot of Mexicans and Mexican Americans here in Laredo. I want to show them that you can communicate through your clothing,” Almas said.
