CHARLOTTEVILLE, Virginia (WVIR) – Virginia passed 2 million COVID cases this week, though the actual number may be much higher.
Dr Reed Adams said COVID numbers in hospitals have stabilized over the past few weeks.
“Today, 35 patients who tested positive for COVID are hospitalized. Told.
There are also 3 pediatric patients, 2 of whom are in the ICU.
Dr. Costi Schifri reminds us that people can develop serious long-term health complications from COVID and we need to remain vigilant about the possibility of infection or reinfection.
“The impact of COVID is significant and could possibly become a permanent problem due to lung dysfunction and other medical problems. is dropping,” Dr. Schiffli said. “One of my first thoughts when thinking about these figures is to realize that the number of cases that actually occurred is greatly underestimated.
“There are more and more people with COVID right now, but at UVA Health, we don’t know about it either because they are testing at home or because they are not showing symptoms and they are not being tested. I don’t know,” said Dr. Schiffli.
Future Boostershot expansions are still under discussion.
