QUEENSBURY, NY (NEWS10) – SUNY Adirondack announced new appointments this week to expand the services it offers outside the regular classroom. This week, the university named her Susan Corlew as her new Director of Innovation for Continuing Education and Workforce.
A Queensbury resident and educator, Corlew oversees SUNY Adirondack’s continuing education program, which consists of non-credit courses offered to members throughout the community. Program courses are offered to students aged 9 to her 99 and operate at Saratoga Springs High School and her SUNY Adirondack Her Culinary Center, in addition to her campus in Maine, Queensbury. Her work also includes her Workforce Innovation, a department that provides students with the training necessary to work for companies in specific industries and regions.
“We are excited to serve the needs of our residents, manufacturers and industries,” said Corlew. “Whether for general interest or to help build the skill sets of our workers, we provide coursework to help people become the best version of themselves. I want to give back to the community where I live.”
Corlew has experience teaching in local school districts. Most recently, the educator taught English at the LaSalle Institute in Troy and developed a new program for women. This includes a job teaching a high school English class in Glens Falls until 2013.
“We are thrilled to welcome Susan to our team,” said Caelynn Prylo, Dean of Continuing Education. “Her expertise in the classroom and developing our curriculum and academic programs will be an incredible asset to our larger community.”
