Rockland Community College (RCC) has introduced an associate degree in Healthcare Science program for the fall semester.

A statement released by the Suffern-based school said the program provided “a strong foundation in both mathematics and the sciences necessary to succeed in the fields of health care administration, community health, physical therapy, physician assistants, and health care.” core courses: Medical Information Specialist, Emergency Services Management, Nutrition/Dietary Management, Health Education Specialist, Radiology Technology, Surgical Technology, and/or Biotechnology.

Kathy Hopkins, Ph.D., dean of the RCC School of Nursing, Health and Wellness, said the health care profession is one of the fastest growing sectors in today’s economy, adding that the new program “provides students with a wide variety of opportunities. It gives us the opportunity to explore more comprehensive healthcare,” he added. It provides students with a strong academic foundation to prepare them for this harsh industry reality. ”
