(Center Square) – More than $500,000 in federal funds will go to West Virginia to support higher education institutions, as determined by the U.S. Department of Education.

Approximately $396,000 will go to West Virginia University to support the Child Care Access Means Parents in School Program, which provides childcare services on campus. Over $111,000 will be donated to West Virginia State University to support undergraduate international studies and foreign language programs.

“West Virginia’s institutions of higher education provide top-notch, accessible educational services to students in fields they are passionate about,” Sen. Sherri Moore Capito said in a statement.

“This funding will help us continue this by expanding WVSU’s international research arm and supporting WVU’s on-campus childcare services,” the senator continued. We will continue to advocate for the resources that universities and colleges need to create opportunities for students to succeed and grow.”

In total, this will provide the state’s higher education system with more than $507,000.
